As an affiliate of the Lillian Lodge Kopenhaver Center for the Advancement of Women in Communication at Florida International University, we work collaboratively across our campuses and throughout the country to promote gender equity and foster advancements for women working in all fields of communication, both in academia and in industry. We are committed to empowering women as leaders in communication and upholding diversity and inclusion initiatives in communication practice and research for all, regardless of gender identification. We provide access to renowned guest speakers, mentoring, networking events, and virtual workshops for the benefit of undergraduates, graduate students, early professionals, and seasoned communication experts alike.
Center for Art & Social Engagement
The Center for Art & Social Engagement is a new initiative of Rowan University Art Gallery at Westby Hall. It serves as a venue for investigating social issues through arts-based methods. Anchored by a permanent display of The Sister Chapel, a historic collaborative feminist installation, the Center draws inspiration from the cooperative spirit of the women’s art movement. Programming at the Center encourages interdisciplinary collaborations that explore diverse and timely social issues through multidisciplinary practices, broadly conceived to include a variety of mediums such as photojournalism, film and video, historical ephemera, faculty and student research presentations, info-graphic presentations, STEM/STEAM installations, and public programming.
Center for Sports Communication & Social Impact
We work with students studying in our Sports Communication and Media (Sports CaM) program to enhance their academic growth. We provide access to mentoring, renowned guest speakers, networking events, work opportunities and student clubs. Our core mission is to advance the success of Sports CaM majors. If you want to prepare for a career on the forefront of sports and find ways to impact others in society, we would love to hear from you.
George Family Center for Healing Arts
Through arts in health, the Dr. James E. George, M.D., J.D. & Family Center for the Healing Arts of Rowan University aims to improve hospital, clinical, and educational experiences for patients, caregivers, visitors, staff, and students through arts in health. We achieve this by fostering health and wellness through the arts within and beyond the Rowan community. Our approach includes one-on-one and group interactions, community outreach, exhibitions, accessibility initiatives, and research efforts.
Institute of Innovative Media, Materials & Design
The Institute of Innovative Media, Materials & Design (IMMaD) supports collaborative, cross-disciplinary innovations related to those areas listed in the name. With creative inquiry at its core, IMMaD impacts and expands thinking related to innovative media, materials and design, in all their ramifications, including sustainability, entrepreneurship and engineering design.
Rowan Writing Center
The Rowan Writing Center’s mission is to create a university community of strong, confident writers and communicators. We offer an inclusive, accessible, and supportive environment where Rowan Writing Center tutors provide opportunities that enable student writers to discover and develop effective writing and composing practices. We offer a space where writers of many genres can find support at any stage of the writing process. From brainstorming ideas, organizing them, revising drafts and checking citations, the RWC and its tutors provide a comfortable environment for students to improve and succeed.
