While curriculum guides make it relatively simple for students to determine the needed courses, there is sometimes information regarding when courses are offered, prerequisites, and making choices among possible selections that students may not have, but an advisor will. You should also review the program guides for your major regularly.

Advisors are also not just for course selection. Your advisor can provide information and advice regarding your career path, internships, graduate degrees, etc.

If you do not see your advisor regularly, we cannot promise that emergency registration issues that occur in your course selection process can be resolved with immediacy.

All students should have an advisor listed on the GRAD screen in student self service.

No. Ms. Mummert is currently seeing students only for senior review or to change majors. All other students should meet with their assigned advisor.

Yes. While all advisors have some office hours and won't mind if you stop by with quick questions, your regular advising appointment will be more effective if both you and your advisor have time to prepare for the session and there is adequate time for discussion.

Different advisors have their own policies regarding advisement by email or skype. Please see your advisor for further information.

Registration for fall semester and summer begins in March. Registration for spring semester begins in October. You should set up an appointment with your advisor several weeks before your course selection date. Do not assume your advisor will be able to see you the day before registration begins.

Please complete the Academic Advisement Preparation Worksheet before your advising session. This will require you, if your meeting is for course selection, to review your current program guides (see the link to your major), and make some choices about what classes you think you need.

Once you have determined what classes you believe that you should take, you should also check the Section Tally for the semester you are scheduling to determine which sections best work for your schedule.

The senior review process provides an additional opportunity to identify potential barriers to graduation and create a plan for success.

Senior review is not a substitute for regular advising; it is a supplement to it. Some academic progress issues are too significant to be rectified in a semester, or even a year. It is important to meet your advisor regularly throughout your time at Rowan and also have your senior review meeting.

Senior review meetings should be scheduled in the second semester of your junior year, or when you are nearing 90 hours of completed course credits.
