Marie Haughton Flocco earned her MA in Rhetoric and Composition from Carnegie Mellon University and has been teaching college composition since 2001. She joined the Writing Arts faculty at Rowan University in 2010. Currently, she teaches Honors Composition I and Honors Composition II. Her interests include high school to college transition and First-Year Experience as well as inclusive pedagogy for neurodivergent students. Professor Flocco is also the Coordinator of First-Year Experience and the Bantivoglio Leadership and Service Training (B.L.A.S.T) program in the Martinson Honors College. Her awards include: John H. Martinson Honors College (2024) Faculty of the Year; 2016 College of Communication and Creative Arts Excellence in Service for Writing Arts; 2018 Rowan University Autism Ambassador; National Association of College and Residence Halls Faculty Member of the Month (Nov., 2018); 2022 Rowan University DEI, Excellence in Diversity for Group Project for development of Inclusive Practice and Pedagogy Certificate (contributing group member).
