Biography

Prior to joining the Edelman College of Communication & Creative Arts in 2023, Kenny spent seven years at Indiana University (Bloomington), teaching production and sports media classes and advising Indiana University Student Television, winner of top honors from the College Media Association. Prior to that, he taught journalism and mass communication courses at Samford University (Birmingham, Alabama) where, for eight years, he advised The Samford Crimson. He also worked for about a decade as a multimedia journalist, covering sports and breaking news across the southeast before returning to academia. At Rowan, he is teaching courses in Communication Studies, RTF and Journalism.



A SCUBA diver, cyclist, and swimmer, he is married to Dr. Lauren Smith, an associate professor of Sports CaM.
