Doreen Fera joined the Writing Arts faculty in 2015 after a 30-year career as a freelance writer and advertising agency creative director. She teaches all First-Year-Writing courses, including specialized composition courses for business majors and engineering students, and courses in the Writing Arts major, such as Writing Children’s Stories and Writing as Managers. She is the 2022 recipient of Rowan University’s Frances S. Johnson Junior Faculty Innovative Teaching Award for “innovative and meaningful teaching that promotes student learning.”

Doreen has taught memoir writing to adults, creative writing to high school students, and storytelling to youngsters and is the author of the children’s book, Rodney Robin’s Fabulous Adventure! which earned a “Best of the Best” endorsement by the Pennsylvania School Librarians Association.

Her academic interests include creativity and creative pedagogy, creative nonfiction, digital composition, inclusive course design, and developing coursework to address students’ practical needs in business and industry. Her essays have appeared in The Philadelphia Inquirer.
