Biography

Phil Anastasia has been an adjunct professor in the journalism department at Rowan University since 2004. He spent 41 years as a sports journalist in the South Jersey/Philadelphia area before retiring in 2021. He was a Philadelphia Eagles’ beat writer, college reporter, columnist and sports editor at the Courier-Post from 1980-2008. He was a columnist and high school reporter at the Philadelphia Inquirer from 2008-2021. He won more than 50 sports-writing awards , including eight first-place honors from the New Jersey Press Association and a first place in column writing from the Associated Press Sports Editors. He is author of a book about the 1992 Philadelphia Eagles, “Broken Wing, Broken Promise.”
