Giving & Scholarships
The Ric & Jean Edelman $10 Million Endowment
The largest single endowed gift to Rowan University dedicated solely to student scholarships, Ric and Jean Edelman's $10 million donation supports both merit and needs based academic scholarships for students pursuing careers in the fields of communication and creative arts. In recognition of his success and the extraordinary support Ric and Jean have given to Rowan, the University’s Board of Trustees voted on Wednesday, February 12, 2020 to rename the college the Ric Edelman College of Communication & Creative Arts.
Diana King Gift Funds Graduate Scholarships
The Rowan University Board of Trustees approved the naming of a new Master of Arts program for the late Diana King, a longtime friend and benefactor whose foundation pledged $1 million to support student scholarships.
Launched in September 2022, the Diana King Master of Arts in Television Studies will prepare students for one of three career tracks in the expanding TV industry – screenwriting, critical writing about television, and an academic pathway towards terminal degrees in television studies. In addition, the Master’s will be attractive to those teaching television and media studies at the K-12 or college level. Read more..
King Family Foundation
The Charles & Lucille King Family Foundation, a longtime friend and benefactor of Rowan University, has gifted $545,000 to support scholarships, students impacted by Covid-19 and a new online tutoring program. The foundation, a major supporter of the Edelman CCCA since 2002, donated $450,000 to establish the Diana King Memorial Scholarship Fund in memory of founder Diana King, a trustee, president and foundation board chair.
Edelman Scholars
An endowment created by alumni Jean and Ric Edelman, longtime Rowan University benefactors, has begun supporting the academic careers and professional development of high-achieving students in Edelman CCCA with this year’s inaugural selection of Edelman Scholarship recipients.
The Denis Mercier - Endowed Professional Development Fund
The Denis Mercier Endowed Professional Development Fund was established to support faculty members within the College of Communication & Creative Arts in their professional development endeavors.
Raquel Bruno
Radio, Television & Film alum Raquel Bruno ‘93, gifted $25,000 to the Rowan Radio music library, which has been renamed in her honor.
Paul Grand & Sunitha Menon
Fine art photographer Paul Grand and his wife, Sunitha Menon, establishd the Rowan University Creative Inquiry Scholars (RUCIS), administered through the Institute of Innovative Media, Materials & Design.
Virginia Rowan Smith
Rowan University Board of Trustee member Virginia Rowan Smith gave $15,000 to the Rowan Writing Center to support tutor research, travel to academic conferences and community writing initiatives.
Creative Inquiry Scholarships
In fall 2018, the first Paul Grand and Sunitha Menon Rowan University Creative Inquiry Scholarships were given to six Rowan students. The goal of these scholarships is to prepare the next generation of creative achievers, intellects and thought leaders who will bring a unique, twenty-first century perspective to society. The gift also supported the expansion of our Photography program.
LLK Gift to Center for Women in Communication
In October of 2021, Dr. Kopenhaver pledged a gift to support operations and outfit the home of the Center for the Advancement of Women in Communication. A virtual celebration was held to honor her generosity.
