Neil Hartman, Director of the Center for Sports Communication & Social Impact

Emmy award-winning sportscaster Neil Hartman was named Director of Rowan University’s Center for Sports Communication & Social Impact in August 2019. His responsibilities include mentoring students, procuring internships, guiding careers and engaging students with sports industry professionals on campus.

Hartman spent nearly two decades as the main anchor for Comcast SportsNet Philadelphia. He also worked for Philadelphia television stations CBS3 and WPHL-TV as a sports anchor and earned four Mid-Atlantic Emmy Awards and was named Pennsylvania Sportscaster of the Year by the National
Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association for his television work. Among his radio accomplishments was “Best of Philly” sports talk-show host by Philadelphia Magazine while working for WPHT-AM. Hartman also spent five years as a talk-show host for sports radio WIP.

Following a 35 year on-air career, Hartman made the transition to content development creating his own production company, Talow Media Group. Among his show credits are The Haney Project and Golf in America — both highly successful series on Golf Channel, which he created and co-produced. He has also been involved in projects with Netflix, Showtime and MLB Network. In addition, Hartman has helped develop future sports broadcasters as a Camp Director at Play by Play Sports Broadcasting Camps, the nation’s largest sports broadcasting camps.

Hartman has been an active supporter of Coaches vs. Cancer and his town’s youth baseball and basketball organizations and is a graduate of Ithaca College.
