Half a century of excellence in Public Relations and Advertising education. Our graduate program was established in 1967, primarily to support School PR in the tri-state region. Both graduate and undergraduate programs were repeatedly Certified in Education for Public Relations (PRSA-CEPR): 2004, 2010, 2017. Our team includes about 30 faculty and staff who are experienced educators and accomplished practitioners. All our instructors hold advanced degrees in their field, are actively producing research, creative, and scholarship works, and many are APR-certified.
Join us, if you are interested in combining a solid theoretical background and real-world experience in public relations and advertising practice. The Department of Public Relations and Advertising Department is home to almost 500 graduate and undergraduate majors, minors, and certificate students. Our students compete in national venues showcasing their skills, ambition, and accomplishments. Our alumni are employing their knowledge and passion all over the world.
Mission Statement. The Department of Public Relations and Advertising includes a diverse group of faculty and staff who teach, conduct research, and serve in various administrative roles as they prepare current students for the professional world of media, advertising, and public relations. We are committed to recruiting, retaining, and supporting students who will become scholars, professionals, and citizens who contribute to the world in its understanding and appreciation of humanity and its diversity. The Department of Public Relations and Advertising is committed to convening and nurturing a diverse community of individuals dedicated to promoting excellence and growth in communication through education, research, and practice. We seek to promote a positive environment of academic freedom where all students have the opportunity to express diverse views and have their voices heard. This is necessary for our students to succeed as it is not just about having a flexible mindset; it also provides the basis for learning fundamental concepts and theories in the field of Public Relations and Advertising.
Pre-professional experience. Students engage directly with area professionals in a wide range of mentoring and professional-service programs. They benefit from Rowan's extensive and active network of public relations and advertising graduates serving in communication leadership positions for businesses, non-profits, government and educational organizations throughout the country.
Student agencies and clubs. Rowan's Ad Club is establishing a reputation at the annual AAF National Student Competitions and is affiliated with the regional Philly Ad Club and the American Advertising Federation (AAF). Rowan's Anthony J. Fulginitti PRSSA Chapter is one of the oldest and most prestigious in the country. Our student-run agencies, PRaction and Ad Dynamics, develop and implement campaigns serving business and public-service clients.
