New Media
The growth of new media at Rowan reflects the growth of new media in the Contemporary Art and Graphic Design communities. Motion Courses provide the Art students with a foundation in 2-d animation, sound and video. The Web design courses provide the Art students with a foundation in the fundamentals of web design using html and Flash design. Both courses support and build-on the areas of Fine Art and Graphic design by providing the art students with the media tools to promote and broaden their artistic practice. In Web design they build a substantial web portfolio as well as learn to build sites for clients. In Motion students create animations, videos and audio that utilize their artistic practice and provide them with the opportunity to experiment with new tools. In the last 3 years the art department has acquired the equipment to make media exhibitions possible. Consequently many students are choosing to incorporate new media into their senior exhibitions and the Motion classes are able to have exhibitions every semester.
